What is Stella Polare?
translated directly from Italian as Polar Star. There are multiple meanings for Stella Polare – Polar Star, in astronomy the Polar Star of earth is regarded as the boreal polar star which is a Ursae Minoris, also known as Polaris, belonging to the constellation of the Bear Minor, is visible to the naked eye throughout the northern hemisphere (north of the equator) and is used to identify the northern cardinal point. In general the Polar Star is the one that indicates the celestial north pole of the Earth, so the expression “Polar Star” (with capital initials) refers to the boreal polar star of the Earth, that is, the star aligned with the Earth’s axis of rotation and located in the northern hemisphere of the celestial sphere.
Interestingly the Stella Polare was also a converted whaling ship that carried an Italian expedition to the North Pole in 1899–1900. The expedition was led by Luigi Amedeo, Duke of the Abruzzi, and Captain Umberto Cagni.
What is Sterling Silver?
is an alloy composed by weight of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper. The sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness (parts per thousand) of 925.
