Antique coromandel vanity box with brass stringing and vacant shield initial plate. The interior contains twelve silver top glass jars by London Silversmiths Charles Boyton. Seven of these are housed in a removable tray which also contains a pad fitted with sewing tools, underneath which is a storage space.

The underside of the lid houses a velvet backed mirror which can be removed to reveal a secret hidden leather letter compartment. To access this press the top edge just underneath the brass locking keep allows this spring revealing the letter compartment and removable free reversible mirror with its original plate.

The back edge of the box has a brass button that when pressed releases a hidden drawer at the front of the box. This drawer is the perfect safe place for storing precious jewellery items.

This vanity box comes with a fully working lock and tasselled key. The key must be turned clockwise to unlock.
