Antique coromandel Writing Boxwith double strung brass, brass edging, escutcheon and vacant initial plate. This fabulous writing box has two secret compartments, one hiding three small drawers and the other for all those top secret documents.

The interior features a maroon leather writing surface with gold tooling and original ribbon tabs at the top and bottom to allow the surfaces to be lifted, the lower half has a large storage space. The top half of the writing slope also has a large storage space and houses secret drawers! The drawers can be accessed by pulling the right hand inkwell dividing wall upwards. This will cause the back wall of the storage space to spring forward, revealing three hidden drawers with ribbon handles.

The left side of the box has a drawer which can opened by removing the brass retaining pin from the edge of the open box. This allows the drawer to be opened. It can be fully removed to gain access to another secret document drawer housed above it. Pressing on the right hand wall of the writing boxes upper compartment will release the hidden drawer causing it to drop down and the be removed.

The writing box has a fully working lock & tasselled key.
