Lifting the lid of this exquisite silver vanity box reveals ten sterling silver topped glass jars by London silversmith Thomas Whitehouse dated 1870. Underneath is a retailers mark which reads: “Pearce 77 Cornhill”. The lids of the jars have the same dragon crest as the initial plate on the exterior of the box. The glass jars surround a padded fitted tool tray, complete with tweezers, corkscrew, sewing hook, pricker and scissors. The tool tray and five of the jars are housed in a removable tray which can be removed with the aid of the small engraved handles to either side. Lifting this try reveals a storage space underneath.

On the back edge of the open box is a button, when pressed a hidden drawer to the front of the box springs open! This drawer has several compartments for storing precious items like jewellery and even has a compartment fitted for storing rings earrings or cufflinks.
