Antique coromandel & Satinwood lined Writing Box by Lund of London, with brass edging and double stringing. With vacant initial plate and escutcheon.

The satinwood lined interior features a black gold tooled leather writing surface which has upper and lower compartments underneath. Complete with Berry’s Patent leather inkwell and match strike. The upper half has a removable satinwood tray which is engraved
“Lund 23 & 24 Fleet St London”
With this tray removed the three secret drawers can be accessed. In order to reveal them the main lock must be in the locked position. Then the brass pin located in top storage compartment can be pressed down the side of the locking tabs into the lock. This will make a false wall spring forward revealing the three hidden drawers.

This writing box comes with a fully working lock and tasselled key. The key must be turned clockwise to unlock.
