Papier Mache writing box by Thomas Lane.

Inset with a painted pearl glass panel of Alnwick Castle in Northumberland (now famous across the world after it featured in the Harry Potter film sets).
The whole box is beautifully decorated with painted flowers ad fine gold decoration. The box opens to reveal red silk-lined stationery compartments, crimson velvet and black & gold tooled writing surface, inkwell and glass water jar with brush.

This fabulous Papier Mache Writing Box comes with its original bill of sale from “Thomas Lane”, Royal Papier Mache & Patent Pearl Glass Works, of Great Hampton to her Majesty & HRH Prince Albert Street, November 15th 1848.
