Description

Description

Extremely rare Betjemann oak tantalus with ornate silver plate corner brackets and silver plate handle with fitted monogram.
The silver plate handle is marked on each end with “The Tantalus” and “Betjemann’s Patent London 3677”.

Four bottle tantalus are rare in themselves but this size is extremely rare too making this a magnificent find.
Each of the hobnail cut crystal cylindrical decanters has faceted stoppers and sit inside a velvet lined compartment to keep them safe and secure.

To unlock the handle the key must be pressed into the sprung lock and turned clockwise. This will then allow the whole mechanism to be pressed downwards, allow the handle to be tilted forward or backwards.
