Antique Jewellery Box veneered in striking figured Calamander with a crossbanded top & front separated with double brass stringing. The top has a vacant initial plate.

Opening this exquisite jewellery box reveals a beautifully gold tooled interior lined in black leather paper and a deep blue silk velvet. The underside of the lid houses a ruched velvet backed removable mirror, which when removed reveals a hidden leather letter compartment.

The interior contains thirteen padded compartments, seven of which are housed in a removable tray which when removed reveals one large compartment underneath.

On the back edge of the open box there are three brass hinges marked ” W. T & S improved” . The middle one has a small brass button which when pressed will cause the hidden drawer at the front of the box to spring open. This drawer has six jewellery compartments including one specifically lined for storing rings, earrings or cufflinks.

This fabulous jewellery box comes complete with a fully working Bramah Lock and tasselled key. This lock requires the key to be pressed into it whilst turning clockwise to unlock.
