Cast Iron French Strong Box by Bauche

With a raw polished iron finish and a beautifully detailed Royal Coat of Arms for the United Kingdom mounted on the front complete with the motto: “dieu et mon droit”(god and my right). Not only very useful but a great talking point and very decorative too.

The strong box has very sturdy carrying handles to the sides and on the top a plate that reads “Incombustible Nouveau Systeme. Brevete S.G.D.G Bauche A Gueux (Marne)“.
The box can be unlocked using its large original key. The lock mechanism is shielded by the circular iron plate on the left-hand side of the door. The interior is lined with padded royal blue velvet. Making it perfect for storing very precious pieces.

These boxes would originally have been for travelling with important documents or precious valuables. They are very sturdy, which makes breaking into them difficult and so heavy to make away with! This particular design is also “incombustible” meaning that even if set on fire the contents will remain safe.
