Beautiful Russian malachite box.
Made of beautiful solid malachite with silver feet and lesser state emblem of the Russian empire. The silver is by Erik August Kollin (1836 – 1901). A Finish born silversmith who worked from 1858 to 1886. Kollin was the head jeweller for the famous Russian jewellery firm Faberge from 1872 to 1886. It is marked with a 84 zolotnik which means .875 pure silver.

Malachite gets its name from the Greek word “Mallache”, which means “Green”.
