Description

Description

This Yellow Glass Match Striker by A & J Zimmerman Ltd, dated 1903, is formed with a yellow glass body decorated with alternating bands of fine horizontal ribbing and smooth polished glass, creating a distinctive layered surface around the body. The upper section is mounted with a sterling silver collar surrounding the central opening.

The silver mount is hallmarked Birmingham, with the maker’s mark for A & J Zimmerman Ltd, Arthur & John Zimmerman, and the date letter for 1903.

The yellow glass is less commonly encountered than the standard clear examples, while the alternating ribbed and polished sections give this Edwardian match striker a particularly distinctive appearance.
