Description

Tunbridge Ware sewing box by Henry Hollamby with a view of Glena Cottage on the lid.

The interior is lined with burgundy velvet and paper. The main tray features many compartments for thimbles spools and other sewing tools, a padded tool tray and two removable needle books. Underneath this is a larger storage space.

Also included is a small matchbox with buttons and beads inside, and a needle packet by JAs Smith & Son. The front of the packet reads:
“Improved Patent.
Forged Best Cast Steel Sail makers needles.
Manufactured by JAs SMITH & SON. Made in England. Warranted
Made by Hand, and not to cut the Twine.”

This tunbridge sewing box comes with a fully working lock and tasselled key.
