Antique Maple & Satinwood lined writing box with brass quadrant edging, ornate vacant initial plate and matching escutcheon, with flush fitting campaign carry handles on each side.

Opening this splendid writing box reveals a satinwood interior with its original green gold tooled leather writing surface. The lower half lifts to reveal a storage space and cross band ribbon letter holder. The top half of the writing surface, once unlocked, can be lifted to reveal a large storage space which houses a secret compartment with three hidden drawers!
To access the hidden drawers the small divider to the left hand side of the top right inkwell must be gently lifted. This will cause the false wall to spring forward revealing three hidden drawers with turned bone handles.

Complete with fully work locks and tasselled keys. Both must be turned clockwise to unlock.
