Description

Antique jewellery box veneered in magnificent striking Coromandel, with quadrant brass edging and finely inlaid double stringing framing the front and top. The top having a ornate engraved brass monogrammed initial plate and a brass barrel bramah lock slightly protruding to the front. Bramah locks have complicated spring loaded mechanisms and require the key to be pressed into the lock whilst turning clockwise to unlock.

Lifting the lid of this magnificent large antique Jewellery box reveals the hinges and locks all beautifully engraved with swirling patterns with the lock signed Bramah, London. Complimenting this work is the luxurious finish in black water silk paper and cushioned blue velvet. Two deep compartments at the back could fit watches or bangles, four shallow ones suitable for necklaces or chains and running the middle of the four compartments is a ring / cufflink holder.

The front of the jewellery box folds forward revealing two drawers each constructed out of high quality mahogany with dovetailed joints and inset with exquisitely engraved flush fitting silvered handles. The jewellery drawers are expertly lined in the same manner as the rest of this magnificent box.
