Description
Calamander Silver Vanity box by David Edwards, with brass edging calamander crossbanding and brass stringing.
The interior features eight glass containers each with beautifully engraved sterling silver lids and cut glass jars all housed in a removable tray with storage space underneath, and a velvet lined tray including various tools with Mother of Pearl handles, silver pencil with a purple semi precious stone and a mother of pearl dip pen. This tray can also be removed to reveal further storage space.
The sterling silver is by London Silversmith, Frances Douglas 1847.
The inside of the lid has a removable free standing mirror which once removed reveals a gold tooled leather book of blotting paper, which is signed in gold by “Edwards, Manufacturer to Her Majesty. 21 King St Bloomsbury, London.”
This Vanity box is fitted with a Bramah lock which is stamped J.Bramah, 124 Piccadilly. The lock is fully working and comes with a tasselled key.
