Ferrari 250 GTO 1:18 scale hand made by Anthony Holt & Sons Ltd, London. Hallmarked sterling silver rhodium plated (rhodium being part of the platinum family).
The Ferrari GTO is mounted onto a black polyester lacquered double tier plinth and is No:3 of 5. The first and second belong to a famous industrialist.
The Ferrari 250 GTO is a homologated GT car produced between 1962 – 1964. Homologation is the approval process for vehicle certification according to the rules of a sanctioning body. For example “production based” series require a certain number of road legal cars to be built.
In may 1962 a 250 GTO was made for Formula one world champion Sterling Moss. Which later became the worlds most expensive car, selling at auction for a reported $38,115,000 in 2012.
In 2013 it was reported that the 250 GTO bearing the chassis number 5111GT sold privately to an unknown buyer for $52,000,000.
