Perfume Tantalusveneered in Yew Wood with silver-plate corner brackets and handle by E.Rimmel of London. Rimmel is a British cosmetics brand, now owned by Coty, Inc. The House of Rimmel was founded by Eugène Rimmel as a perfumery in 1834 in Regent Street, London, England.
Unlocking the perfume tantalus and keeping the key turned allows the handle to be drop either torwards or away from you. With the handle folded down the three hobnail cut square. perfume bottles with faceted stoppers can be removed.
The silver-plated handle is marked:

Eugène Rimmel (1820-1887) was a French-born British perfumer and businessman, responsible for manufacturing and marketing some of the earliest commercially made cosmetics and world leading is still in business today. Rimmel was so successful that he was granted 10 Royal Warrants from heads of state all over Europe, including Queen Victoria, for his perfumes and fragranced products.

Yew, or Yewtree, originates from Asia, Europe and North Africa. It is yellow-brown to orange-brown and usually conforms to a fine uniform pattern. Yew wood usually has black pips scattered throughout so clean veneers fetch a high price and are reserved for finer items. A few trees will produce a burr which offers a distinct decorative finish.
