Description
Antique Coromandel Jewellery Boxwith double strung brass on the front and top with monogramed initial plate and brass escutcheon.
The interior is lined in black leather and padded purple velvet, with ornate engraved silver hinges and bramah lock mechanism. Folding down the front of the jewellery box allows the wings of the box to be opened out, revealing a removable narrow tray suitable for a watch or necklaces to the back of the box with more space beneath and a large area in the main part of the jewellery box, each with a cushioned purple velvet.
The underside of the lid houses a removable reversible leather backed mirror with gold tooling and ruched velvet.
To access the secret letter reversible mirror compartment:
The lock keep on the lid at the top edge of the box has three screws, place your thumb underneath the middle screw under the front edge of the box, you will feel a indentation squeeze this and the mirror will spring forward, this can be removed to allow access to the letter compartment and the mirror can be turned if preferred to reveal the ruched velvet.
This fabulous Jewellery box comes complete with its original leather case and a fully working Bramah lock and tasselled key.
