Description

Georgian Jewellery Box veneered in beautiful figured rosewood bound in thick robust brass with brass stringing and ornate borders. The top is adorned with an engraved star shaped initial plate with a Lion and the letters “S M P” The Lion symbolises majesty, strength, and justice, military might and courage. The lion is holding a cresent which is said to signify one who has been enlightened and honored by the gracious aspect of his sovereign; symbol of ‘hope and greater glory’.

Opening the fabulous jewellery box reveals a beautifully lined interior of silk paper and velvet in a contrasting teal blue and white. With nine padded compartments of varying size all housed in a removable tray which can be easily lifted thanks to incorporated brass rings. Underneath is a large padded storage compartment.

This jewellery box comes complete with fully working lock and tasselled key. The lock is a standard turn clockwise to unlock.
