A tortoiseshell sewing box exemplifying the Regency style, with bombe shaped sides. Has a wonderful domed, radiating pressed starburst top, edged with ivory and flanked by delicately turned ivory handles.
Silver engraved squirrel armorial to the top. To the front is a small drawer, only accessible by removing a locking pin located in the box’s interior. The inside is lined with the original blue silk lining, and features a mirror plate and tray holding eight ivory chrysanthemum cotton/wool holders, acorn shaped tape, ivory thimble, scissors and other sewing accessories. Sits on elegant ivory lion pad feet.

With a fully working lock and tasselled key. The key must be turned clockwise to unlock.
