Description

Antique Burr Walnut Vanity box with brass edging for added strength and the top and front decorated with engraved brass and ebony inlay. This design is continued on the lock escutcheon and monogrammed initial plate.

Lifting the lid reveals a blue velvet lined interior with matching gold tooled leather. The underside of the lid houses a ruched velvet backed mirror with mother of pearl stay. Behind this is a leather letter compartment which sits in front of an original makers label which reads:
“W. H. Tooke Manufacturer Liverpool”

This vanity box features nine sterling silver lidded glass containers ( by London Silversmith Thomas Johnson I ), and fitted tool pad with various mother of pearl handled tools, including corkscrew, tweezers, scissors, pencil, penknife and sewing hook.

The box has a separate lockable drawer at the front, which is fitted for jewellery with six silk lined, padded compartments including one for rings, earrings or cufflinks.
