Antique apothecary box in mahogany with brass corner brackets for added strength. With vacant brass initial plate, escutcheon and flush carry and drawer handles. Lifting the lid reveals sixteen glass medicine jars and a glass mixing plate.

The labels on the jars read: ” Quinin, Bismuth, Gardinium, Bromide Potassium, Cream of Tartar, Tincture of Squills, Tinc Sinaga, Nux Vomica Poison, Paregoric Poison, Ipecacuanha, Tinet Opium Poison, Chloroform, Spirit Camphor, Extract of Henbane Solution of Potassa ”

On the front edge of the open box is a small brass pin that keeps the drawer at the front of the box secure. Removing this pin and opening the drawers reveals six small glass jars, two small tin containers, and a set of weighing scales and weights. The front half of the draw has two compartments with sliding tops. Underneath the sliding tops is a glass mortar and pestle, a measuring beaker and three silver topped glass jars.
The small compartment that contains the weighing scales can be lifted out to reveal a storage space underneath which has various glass tubes and medical supplies.

This apothecary box comes with a fully working lock and tasselled key. The key must be turned clockwise to unlock.
