Description

Jewellery Box in rosewood with fine inlaid brass with mother of pearl dots framing the front and top. The top features a beautiful vacant mother of pearl initial plate framed by engraved brass and abalone. The front of the box has a matching mother of pearl escutcheon with engraved brass.

Lifting the lid of this wonderful antique jewellery box reveals a vibrant interior lined with white water silk paper and blue velvet. The underside of the lid has a blue ruched velvet backed letter compartment, framed by a gold-tooled leather border.

The main jewellery tray features seven compartments and has two brass handles on either side to allow easy removal to access the single large storage area underneath.
On the right-hand edge of the open box is a brass pin, which when removed allows the hidden drawer at the side of the box to spring open. This drawer is lined in matching padded blue velvet and is the perfect secret hiding place for those extra precious items.

This jewellery box comes with a fully working lock and a tasselled key. The key must be turned clockwise to unlock.
