Description
Magnificent early Tunbridge Ware sewing box veneered in rosewood standing on four brass ball and claw feet, with a two headed eagle handle on each side. The two headed eagle is a symbol that has been used for centuries and is a symbol of power and dominion.
The top of the box has a view of Brighton Pavilion.
The interior is lined with green paper and features a matching floral symbol to the border on the top of the box on some of the sewing pieces. Which include a pin cushion, thimble, needle book, tape measure, two small boxes and small removable storage tray.
The underside of the lid has a small label which reads: “A view of the Pavilion at Brighton. Published by G.Wise, Tonbridge”
This sewing box comes with a fully working lock and tasselled key.
