Description
Unusual Tortoiseshell Cased Pocket Watch stand attributed to William Comyns.
The free-standing case has an exquisite tortoiseshell front with silver pique tied ribboned swags and ornate mounts, and a leather-bound back with a hinged stand.
There is a small gap at the top of the case for the pocket watches loop.
On the left-hand side of the case is a small brass button. This is the clasp that opens the case revealing a purple velvet-lined interior housing the pocket watch.
The white enamelled clockface states that the movement is “8 Days” and the mechanism has the serial number: 131433
A beautiful decorative and functional piece unsigned but attributed to William Comyns due to its silver decoration and mounts.
