From our Jewellery Box collection, we are thrilled to offer this late Victorian Glazed Walnut Jewellery Box. The Jewellery Box of rectangular form veneered in Walnut with bevel-edged glazing to the lid and to the drop down front. The lid lifts and the front drops down to reveal the sectioned Jewellery compartments lined in Black Silk water paper with cushioned Silver Velvet. The front of the internal Box shows a vacant initials plaque in the form of a shield with a brass handle below for the drawer. The top tray is easily removed with the two side tabs to access further storage within the Box. The lower drawer opens via the handle, revealing further storage with matching lining. The Jewellery Box dates to the late 19th century during the Victorian Era Circa 1890.

Walnut comes in many varieties from America to Europe. American Walnut is often a warm yellow-brown to purple-brown colour with a straight grain. European Walnut tends to vary greatly from tree to tree in terms of colour and pattern. From light grey-brown to dark brown with dark grain and irregular markings. Walnut trees often develop large burr growths which when veneered show beautiful rich coloured swirls.
