From our Jewellery Box collection, we are pleased to offer this Antique Mahogany Jewellery Watch Box. The Antique Box of slender rectangular form made from solid Mahogany with brass edging having a central rectangular vacant initial plaque to the lid, a shaped escutcheon with brass barrel lock and flush mounted carry handles. The interior of the Antique Box is lined in taupe cushioned silk velvet with two parallel cufflink, ring cushions and two central sections within the removable top tray.  Beneath the top tray is a further storage area with horizontal partitions. The Antique Box is finished with strong brass hinges and a large lock plate with two latches. The Antique Box dates to the first half of the 19th century Charles X period circa 1830. The Antique Box contains two screw down barrels in the facing which would have been used to secure the box on a surface while travelling such as a ship or cart to stop it being stolen.
