Many of you have been asking over the last couple of months how our move is going, well we are now happy to announce that we have moved premises and are set up ready for business in our new Leicestershire showroom and office. The computers are up and running and the showroom is now ready for clients to visit. One thing we are very fortunate to have is another spectacular view directly behind the computers.
During the move we have found multiple pieces of history from the business including this fabulous August 2003 article from The Antique Dealer. The article was titled “Apprentice restorer to dealer” and featured Mark in his transition from apprentice to dealer at the time in portobello road, London. Yes that is Mark in the article… it was 20 years ago!
This week we have chosen one knockout piece to feature in the Newsletter and that is this charming Georgian novelty folk art Tea Caddy in the form of a cottage. Whist we have been known to feature the occasional cottage, typically these have been sewing boxes and we are delighted to offer a variation in the form of a Tea Caddy. It has charming simulated leaded windows, a central chimney and front and rear painted doors. The interior is fitted with twin lidded compartments with turned handles. The Tea Caddy dates to the George III period circa 1800.
