Novelty Cello Shaped Glass Decanter
From our Decanter collection, we are pleased to offer this Novelty Shaped Glass Violin Decanter. The Decanter of novelty form shaped as a Cello with quilt cut body features brass mounted fingerboard, bridge, tail piece and pegs. The pegbox is cleverly hidden as the stopper and can be removed to pour the liquor. The Novelty Glass Cello Decanter dates to the mid-century modern period and the second half of the 20th century circa 1960.
Cello is a bowed string instrument, larger than a violin but smaller than a double bass, known for its deep, rich tone. Played while seated, it has four strings tuned in perfect fifths and is a key voice in orchestras, chamber music, and solo performances.
Mid-Century Modern is a design movement that flourished in the middle of the 20th century following the Art Deco period from around the 1930s to the 1960s. It is characterised by clean lines, organic shapes, and the use of man-made materials.
