Antique Tantalus by Betjemann, made of solid Walnut with ornate silver plated mounts, swing handle and lock mechanism. Retailed by Finnigan, Manchester.

The handle of the Tantalus is marked above the lock mechanism: 'Betjemann's Patent 43405 London' and ' The Tantalus on the other end.

This antique walnut tantalus houses three beautiful lead crystal Hobnail cut glass decanters with faceted stoppers. To release the decanters the lock mechanism must be first unlocked and under the barrel is a lever, by pressing down on this lever allows the handle to be tilted forwards or backwards to gain access to the decanters.

Complete with fully working lock and tasselled key.
