Fabulous quality Jewellery box veneered in exotic Coromandel with solid robust brass edging, lock escutcheons and has a vacant initial plate to the top. Inside reveals a secret letter compartment.

The sturdy antique jewellery box when opened reveals a ornate brass inlays on its edge typical of its maker and has a luxurious blue padded velvet and silk paper lined interior. The underside of the lid has a removable velvet backed mirror, which when removed reveals a hidden leather letter compartment. Just inside the letter compartment is a manufacturers label which reads:
“HALSTAFF, Manufacturer, of writing & dressing cases Ladies work boxes & c & c. 228 REGENT ST. late of margaret st.”This box contains a removable jewellery tray with seven padded velvet compartments including two that have been specifically lined for storing rings, earrings or cufflinks. Using the two brass loop handles this jewellery tray can be removed to reveal a single large padded compartment underneath.

The front of the box has a small jewellery drawer which has its own lock and is also secured by a brass retaining pin, located to the right of the main lock on the front edge of the open box. This makes this drawer very secure and perfect for more precious items.
