Description

Outstanding sarcophagus shaped antique Coromandel Sewing box. Adorned with exquisite engraved mother of pearl inlays with floral pattern borders, accompanied by stylised griffons and large vases to the top and front with larger front inlay including the key profile.

Opening this exceptional one off antique sewing box reveals a ruched silk backed lid, with a brass securing clasp when released reveals a hidden storage compartment.

The main compartment of this impressive antique sewing box houses a removable tray with outstanding fittings including; Bone thread winders, Thimbles, Waxer, Measuring tape, seven cotton spools one being slightly different. In the center of the tray is a removable tool pad, complete with tweezers, file, pricker, scissors and thread hook. Underneath this tool pad is a small storage compartment which contains thread reels, winders, tatting shuttle, and other sewing rarities and essentials all collected by the previous owner.

On the underside of this magnificent sewing box is a retailers label which reads:
