Antique betjemann tantalus made of solid mahogany and veneered with the prettiest figured English Walnut. The Tantalus handle, lock mechanism and decorative corner mounts are all silver plated, the handle is marked "The Tantalus" and "Betjemann's Patent 40427 London" on either side.
The front side of the tantalus has a small retailers plaque that reads: " JAYS 142 & 144 Oxford St W. "

The tantalus is fitted with three fabulous lead crystal decanters each with superb hobnail cut, with star cust to their bases and faceted stoppers.

To release the bottles the lock mechanism is pressed downwards. This will allow the handle to be tilted forwards or backwards. Then the three hobnail cut glass decanter can be removed.

This wonderful Betjemann's walnut tantalus comes with a fully working lock and tasselled key.
