Antique writing box by George Betjemann & Sons veneered in beautiful amboyna with an ornate brass escutcheon. Opening the box reveals a coromandel veneered interior, with a gold tooled blue velvet writing surface. Lifting the top of the surface reveals a large storage space underneath and a retailers plaque which reads: 'PEARSON Bishopsgate St'.
Above the writing surface is a pentray, two brass screw top inkwells and three lidded compartments for storing stationery supplies.

This writing box comes with a tasselled key and fully working lock which is marked; 'G.Betjemann & Sons, London'.
