Antique Tantalusveneered in fabulous figured exotic coromandel with silver plated handle and locking mechanism. Sterling silver corner brackets hallmarked: George Betjemann & Sons 1904. Each decanter sits in a satinwood lined compartment.

On the front of the tantalus is a retailer's label which reads:
Maple & Co Tottenham Court Rd Featuring three half cut glass decanters with star cut bases and faceted stoppers. Each glass decanter has a silver plate chained wine label stating the contained beverage. "Hock"which is a British Term for a German White Wine, "Sherry "AND "Hollands"which is the British term for Jenever or, Dutch Gin.

Once the betjemann tantalus is unlocked the lock can be pressed downward to enable the carry handle to be folded forwards or backwards which then allows the decanters to be removed.

This antique tantalus comes with a fully working lock and tasselled key.

Operating the lock and key: You have to push key into the barrel of the lock and whilst keeping the key pushed in to the sprung barrel turn the key anti clockwise will unlock the Tantalus, then push down on the barrel allowing you to pull the handle either towards or away from you to remove the decanters, if its already locked you will not be able to do this until the Tantalus is unlocked.
