Antique dome top Jewellery Box veneered in beautiful Coromandel with brass quadrant edging, stringing, engraved vacant initial plate and escutcheon.

The interior of this jewellery box is lined with royal blue velvet and silk paper and features seven padded compartments including two for securing rings, earrings or cufflinks.

This jewellery box has two hidden drawers which are opened by pressing the brass buttons on the back and left hand edge of the open box.

This jewellery box comes with a fully working lock and tasselled key.

Coromandel is a valuable wood found in India, Sri Lanka and South East Asia. It has a contrasting hazel-brown colour with black grain. It is a dense, heavy wood that is so popular it has been logged to extinction over the last few hundred years.

Boxes that were originally fitted as Jewellery Boxes are rare. We do come across them from time to time, but most were combination boxes i.e. Vanity Boxes or Sewing Boxes with a built-in jewellery compartment.

Some boxes we acquire have no interiors or are missing all or most of their original fittings. They are too beautiful to do nothing with, so we bring them back to life by hand-making and fitting a jewellery tray or simply lining them. Not only does this give the box a new lease of life but gives you a box that is totally unique and not on the high street! In our opinion these are fantastic value for money - if one of these boxes were to be made today it would cost a small fortune!

Our Jewellery Boxes are refurbished to a very high standard. Our in-house finisher uses top quality cotton silks, leather and hand-marbled paper. By doing this our quality finishes will stand the test of time, so that these beautiful boxes can be passed on to future generations.
