Rare pair of Georgian mahogany single tea caddies with beautifully matched veneers, gilded brass handles and kite shaped escutcheons. The interiors have single lidded compartments with turned ebony handles.
One of the caddies has a hand written label on the underside that reads:
From the Oxford (ineligible) about Nov. 1. 1811
Each Georgian caddy comes with a fully working lock and bone tagged keys. The key must be turned clockwise to unlock.
