From our Sewing Box collection, we are pleased to offer this extremely rare Anglo-Indian Carved Ivory Sewing Compendium. The Sewing Compendium in the form of a temple beautifully carved with a pierced gallery, domed top and raised finial. The temple is constructed in three sections, the dome section unscrews to reveal a pin cushion, the gallery section unscrews and reveals two layers fitted with Gold scissors, bodkin, pricker, needle case, two thimbles, four sewing reels, a pin cushion, tape and waxer. The bottom section also comes apart to reveal a section for threads and other sewing related pieces. The Sewing Compendium dates to the middle of the 19th century circa 1840.
