A Miraculous Antique Fruit Tea Caddy in the shape of an Apple.

This polished caddy has an interesting provenance. It was purchased by a Tea Caddy collector in 1989 – for the grand sum of £3850 (the equivalent of £8600 in today’s money). Remarkably, the original invoice is pictured and included in this sale!

The Apple Tea Caddy has a charming glow with red blushing and untouched patination. In keeping with what would have originally been, is a replaced stalk. There is a Steel oval escutcheon on the front, a steel hinge and a steel lock keep. The interior of the Fruit Caddy still contains traces of its original tin foil lining and comes complete with a fully working lock and tasselled key. 

Instructions for Operating the Lock: the key must be turned clockwise to unlock.
