Rare Burr Yew writing boxwith campaign style brass corner straps and flush fitting carry handles. To the side is a long document drawer which can only be accessed when the box is in its open position and only when a brass pin is removed. Writing boxes veneered in Burr Yew are rarely found, the colour, patination and condition is superb, we presume this was a specially made.

This fabulous burr yew writing slope features its original velvet tooled writing surface. The lower half of this can be lifted to reveal a storage space with cross banded ribbon backing for holding calling cards and letters. The top half of the writing slope lifts to reveal another storage space which houses two hidden secret drawers.

The secret drawer compartment can only be be accessed by removing the brass pin which is located on the right edge of the open box which keeps the side drawer from opening. Place the key back in to the lock, turning the key to lock the lock enables you to then place the brass locking pin down through the lock, pushing down on this will release the cover to the secret drawers.

This antique burr yew writing slope comes complete with two original fabulous brass crown top screw ink wells and original key.
