Description
Antique Rosewood jewellery box by D. Edwards with triple brass stringing on the top and front. With a vacant brass initial plate, and matching shaped escutcheon.
Each side has a flush brass carry handle.
The interior is lined with red velvet and maroon leather, with two removable jewellery trays, the top has 6 padded compartments, while the tray underneath has one large padded compartment. There is a small storage space underneath both of these trays inside the main box, while the back edge has an accessible area while the trays are still in situ.
The underside of the lid of the box has a ruched velvet backed letter compartment comprising gold-tooled leather. Inside is a makers label which reads: “D. Edwards manufacturer of writing & dressing cases to his majesty The Duke of York. No.21 King Street Bloomsbury Square Old Desks, Dressing Cases repaired. Inventor & Maker of the Patent Ink Stand.”
This jewellery box comes complete with a fully working lock and tasselled key.
