Description
Antique Rosewood Stirling Silver Vanity Boxby London silversmiths “Charles Boyton”. The dressing box has strong brass edging, vacant shield initial plate and escutcheon.
The interior is fully fitted with eleven glass bottles and containers with beautifully engraved engine turned stirling silver lids and two padded tool trays with sewing hook, tweezers, corkscrew, scissors, knife and pencil.
This silver dressing box has two flush fitting drawers. The front one can be accessed by pressing the brass button located in the middle of the rear edge of the open box, once pressed it springs forward revealing silk & velvet lined compartments for storing jewellery.
Pressing the brass button on the left hand edge of the open box will cause the flush fitting drawer to the right of the box to spring open.
Both of these drawers are excellent for storing those precious items.
The underside of the box lid feature a luxurious ruched velvet and gold tooled backing. Pressing the top edge just underneath the brass locking mechanism allows this backing to fold forward to reveal a letter holder and a removable free standing mirror with its original plate.
The stirling silver is hallmarked Charles Boyton, London 1850.
