Fully Equipped Field Surgeons Box


From our Boxes collection, we are delighted to offer this Antique Travelling Field Surgeons Box. The Surgeons Box made from Mahogany with brass banded strapping vertically around the exterior with a shield shaped vacant initial plaque and matching escutcheon. The interior of the box is lined in a deep purple/red felt and contains the original partitioned field surgeons equipment including bone saws, tweezers, hooks and knives. The rear of the box is marked with the manufacturer’s label for Ferris and Co, Bristol The Field Surgeon’s box dates to the first half of the 19th century during the early Victorian period circa 1840.


The Surgeons box comes complete with working lock and tasseled key.

Ferris & Company (Limited) formerly of Union Street, Bristol were established by Dr Till-Adam in circa 1770 and operated through to the very early 20th century.
