Antique apothecary box made of solid robust Mahogany with a flush-fitting campaign brass carry handle on the top and matching handle on the drawer front of the medicine box. To the front is also has ornately shaped brass escutcheon.

Lifting the lid of the antique apothecary box reveals a velvet backing that keeps the seven glass jars in securely in place in their velvet-lined compartments.
The jars have their original labels from: “BILLS M.P.S, Pharmacists & Dispensing Chemists. The Pharmacy, High Street, KNIVER. – Tel. 117. -”
The content labels read:
” Boracic Powder / Saltpetre / Purified Epsom Salts / Tartaric Acid / Finest Castor Oil / Sweet Spirit of Nitre / Oil of Eucalyptus ”
Some jars even contain their original contents!

On the front edge of the open box is a brass retaining pin that keeps the drawer secure when the box is closed. Removing the pin allows the drawer to be opened, revealing five small glass jars, a set of brass scales, a measuring beaker and glass mortar and pestle. Either side of the scales are two wooden lids each with a small bone handle, lifting these reveals two pots both containing weights for the scales.
The small Jars have labels that read: ” Ipecacuanha Wine / Ess. Peppermint / Purified Epsom Salts / Tincture of Bark / Distilled Vinegar ” ( One small jar has minor damage to the neck but does not affect the stopper.
