The good quality Cigar Ash Tray of circular form with a star cut base mounted to the top with a German silver rim having three cigar cradles. The Silver is hallmarked with the German standard hallmarks, 935 silver purity and the makers mark for Wilhelm T. Binder. The Silver Mounted Cigar Ash Tray by Wilhelm T. Binder dates to the Art Deco period 1935.

Wilhelm T. Binder was a respected German silversmith based in Schwäbisch Gmünd, a city well known for its silver production. His firm, founded in 1868, became one of the largest silversmithing operations in the region by the late 19th century. Binder produced a wide range of silverware, from flatware to decorative pieces, often in the Jugendstil (German Art Nouveau) style. His work was recognised internationally, including a gold medal at the 1937 Paris World Exhibition. Pieces are typically marked with the initials “WTB” alongside German silver marks like the crescent moon and crown, helping collectors identify and date them. His work remains popular among antique silver collectors today for its fine detail and solid quality.
