Crafted in Exotic Thuya Wood

From our Box collection, we are delighted to offer this Art Deco Thuya Box. The box of rectangular shape features a central glazed lid with a vintage photograph of a motor car. The box exterior veneered in exotic Thuya wood with faux ivory quadrant edging. To the front of the box, a faux ivory thumb tab allows the user to lift the lid revealing the Green Silk water paper lining. The box with a single storage compartment a perfect addition to any automobile collector or box collector seeking a small token box to store accessories. The box dates to the first half of the 20th century during the Art Deco period Circa 1930.

Thuya grows in North West Africa. It is a soft wood which grows in a sporadic, twisted manner. The sought after part is the burr which grows underground as a root burr. It is red-brown in colour with finely detailed grain and will take a high polish finish.
