Description
Fabulous large Betjemanns & Son Coromandel Decanter box, with brass edging, heavy-duty carrying handles, hinges and escutcheons. The top features a family crest with the Latin:”Fuimus” which translates to “we have been” or “we have endured” as found on the Scottish, Bruce, family crest.
Unlocking this betjemanns drinks box, the top lifts allowing the doors to be opened. This reveals three high-quality lead crystal hobnail cut glass decanters housed in velvet lined compartments, with six engraved spirit glasses mounted in front with a further 3 glasses mounted on each door.
Behind the decanters is a beautifully engraved bronze gilded serving tray which also carries the family crest. The bottom has a drawer with a flush-mounted gilded brass handle, pulling this open reveals a large cedar-lined storage area with removable dividers to suit any size of the finest cigars.
This very impressive antique decanter box has a brass plaque engraved by one of London’s best cabinet makers for these type of boxes “G Betjemann & Sons, London”.
This Betjemann drinks cabinet comes with fully working sprung shut lock and tasselled key. As this has a sprung lock the key must always be kept on its exterior because when the decanter box is closed and shut the lock springs spring the locking mechanism to lock the box. As this is the case we are including a spare key.
This would make a rather impressive showpiece and talking point for any dining room, office or boardroom.
