Large Size and Unusual Shape 

From our Tea Caddy collection, we are pleased to offer this unusual shape hexagonal Chinese Export Lacquer Tea Caddy. The Tea Caddy of large elongated hexagonal shape finished in a black ground with gilt decoration depicting individual scenes of figures in various pursuits finished with the top scene bordered by four flaking dragons and two flaming pearls. The interior of the Tea Caddy is delicately finished with further figures to the inner lid with a single pinstripe border having blossoming flowers to each corner. The Chinese Export Lacquer Tea Caddy dates to the Chinese Daoguang Period (1820-1850) circa 1840.
