Description

Stylish Jewellery box by Howel, James & Co, Regents Street London. Its veneered and crossbanded in exotic coromandel with simple brass stringing and brass lines, with a decorative shaped escutcheon to the lid. The Jewellery box has two Bramah locks and flush fitting carrying handles. This box has a veneer shake towards the back of the top of the box which can be seen in the images.

The interior of the antique jewellery box is lined with a blue velvet and leather paper. The inside of the lid is lined in a ruched velvet and folds forward by turning of a elaborately engraved turn button to reveal a letter compartment which is stamped in gold with the makers mark Howel, James & Co, Regents Street London, as well as revealing a gold tooled leather removable free standing mirror. The base has a removable tray with several dividers giving lots of room for storing all kinds of jewellery including a section for earrings, rings & cufflinks.

The bottom drawer of the jewellery box is lined in exactly the same manner as the rest of the box, to access this the jewellery box it must be unlocked using the second key and pulling forward with the key still in the lock, this will then reveal extra space for those precious jewels.
