Description

Striking Coromandel & Satinwood lined writing slopewith intricate engraved inlaid Brass, Pewter, Abalone and Mother of Pearl. The top features two birds of paradise perched on flowering branches beside a water feature, above this is a butterfly hovering to take some water. The detail on these pieces alone is fantastic. This superb writing slope also has fine brass stringing to its sides and back as well as two silvered flush fitting campaign style handles.

The interior features a green gold tooled leather writing surface, silver plated travelling inkwell, pen tray and a small leather bound box for storing pen nibs.
The front half of the writing slope can be lifted to reveal a storage space while the back of the surface has cross-banded ribbon.
The top half of the writing lifts to reveal yet more storage space, and also allows access to the two hidden drawers which can be accessed by by pulling the furthest right divider upwards. This will cause a false wall to spring forward and reveal the two hidden bone handled drawers.
The back of the writing slope features an unusual tool pad which holds, letter openers, pens and pencils.The satinwood floor of this compartment does show signs of age as a little shrinkage shake (can be seen in the images).
